Re: Thinking of buying an S4 needs opinion.....
Find out if it is a US car. We never had 2005.5 models, it is either a 2005 (B6) or a 2006 (B7). If it is a US car, then it is worth quite a bit less (10% to 20%) than a comparable Canadian S4.
This is the one I have for sale:

Re: Thinking of buying an S4 needs opinion.....
So i got more information about the car; the seller purchased as a demo from Riverside Audi in New Jersey, since this B7 S4 wasnt available in Canada untill 2006.
The other thing i also noticed was the intrusment panel; speedometer is Canadian with km/h.
If its an American car it would have the Mph is bigger font then the Km/h, right?
Im starting to get confused and all i want is a legit S4....
Regards, Miguel

Re: Thinking of buying an S4 needs opinion.....
Canadian Audi models don't have dual speedometers, if this car has it, it is because it was changed in order to meet Canadian standards.

Canadian dealers may not like it...!
Now, if I were open to buying a US car, I'd just go get one and import it. No sense buying from the abhorrent selection of B7 S4s available here. I mean no offense to Alex, but look at that thing he's selling...wood trim, alcantara seats...base radio. That's what you get in Canada...about 7 B7 cars cross country for sale so its going to always be a compromise. We haven't even talked about the car's history, and we're stumped trying to find a good one. If you're open to it, go south for selection. There are seven black ones for sale in the state of New York alone.
If you insist on buying locally, just be real patient. There are plenty of folks who will be getting a B8 S4 and moving on from their leased B7, so the market is about to get a bit better for you.

Re: Thinking of buying an S4 needs opinion.....
In order to obtain a 'Recall Clearance Letter' from the manufacturer as part of your importation process, you're kind of at the manu.'s mercy. MB and BMW USA would force the CDN buyer to take the car to his local CDN dealer for an 'inspection' before the letter would be granted. They would charge approximately $1000 for said 'inspection' and would then come up with a few modifications that needed to be made for 'approval'. Chief among them was the speedometer swap to a CDN spec gauge panel. Cost? Upwards of $3000. So, you were now out $4000 or so, and BMW/MB USA would finally give you your Recall Clearance Letter to allow you to complete your RIV importation process and then register the car. This was the BMW/MB way of sticking it to those who imported. Pretty pathetic. Audi never did any of this garbage so if people tell you that this will happen if you import, politely tell them 'thank you' and ignore them! When I imported my S4, I had the US dealer fax title to Audi of America, who promptly emailed me a scanned recall clearance letter...3 hrs later. It was great.
You don't need to do anything, frankly. The car meets all Canadian standards in stock form. The US spec B7s even come with a little **** to turn on the DRLs. B6 cars and some early B7 cars might not have this ****, but that just means a 4 minute VAG COM adjustment with help from anyone on the forum with a cable (i.e. me).

Agree, be patient and look around there are some Canadian deals. I managed one.
