I've wanted an S4 for forever and with the private sale event right now it seems like a great deal - but I have to decide by tomorrow evening (the sale event ends). I hate feeling so rushed but the price is good, and there's one in stock that is almost exactly how I'd configure it. Its monsoon grey with brown interior and I'd likely have taken the blue on black but it looks hot either way. Its got the sports diff and my other must haves. Has a few features I don't care about like nav, but the discounts basically cover the extras.

Test drove it tonight and it was amazing.

Anyway - promised the wife I'd sleep on it but I'm looking for people to tell me to buy it I figured this was the place to come!

Hi Insectile, where's your private sale being held at?

The S4 with the new 3.0 supercharge is super nimble! it's a great car you won't be disappointed. I had the chance to test drive it at the winter driving experience.

I'm just old school and miss the V8 audio, but you get all the performance of the V8 and increase agility with the 3.0. So, if you have the means, go for it ... watch out for the lease options, it only makes sense if your can deduct the lease from your taxes otherwise you're setting yourself for an average residual value but you will pay close to 10k of interest and all the hassle of being responsible for damages to the car unless you take the extra coverage which will cost you a few grand. (that's my 2cents)

If you were going to get a new car this year or next year ... just get it now since you get a decent price. (all that to make room for the new 2013 coming this june)

I also got invited to the private sale and also felt as rushed as you are and also got a good price for a S5 monsoon grey at audi prestige. They had 3 S5 special edition in inventory a few days ago.

The private sale was at Open Road Audi Vancouver, but I think all dealers in Canada had the same thing going on.

I did end up pulling the trigger! Should have it in my hands early next week and I'll get some pics. With all the various incentives, a reasonable dealer discount, fleet discount, and what have you I managed to get $6300 off list. (Before anyone freaks out and demands that I post my invoice I'm including the fact that Audi is paying the first two months payments up to $2000 each and free Audi care in this - so it isn't as crazy as it sounds. I saw that thread from the other guy who got 3800 off and want to avoid getting into that level of confrontation!)

It is still subject to finance approval so I may have to follow this thread up with a sad story about how I almost got an S4

Basically everyone I talked to (who likes cars) said the same thing - if you are going to get it, now's the time so just get on it.

I will also be eating like a university student for the foreseeable future!

Yeah, I financed mine. Should get the news about the approval by today. It's strange though, in my case the first 2 payments will be covered by audi canada but only up to 1000 per month. And there was no mention of free audi care. I'm gonna contact sale rep

Here's what I got 4k off the S5 special edition MSR price (which equal to 10k off the S5 configured in the same way) no delivery charge (another 2k off) and my first 2 payments of 1k.

I'll try to get in the audi care today. I'll post some pics and news as well if it's positive

Wow - good deal! Yeah my dealer was telling me that it was just up to $1000 per month too but I made them show me the wording of the deal and they took it to their finance person and confirmed that it is actually up to $2000 per month for two months. I didn't get free delivery though - I totally should have tried for that. Oh well, I feel I did pretty well so no looking back now!

No - I'm including the payments in my "discount" - I didn't get 6300 directly off the top and $4K worth of payments in addition. I also didn't max out my payments at $2000/month. It was tempting and maybe I should have but that just scared me a little. Sucks you can't pay against principle to lower payments, only to shorten term.

When he first said "and Audi will pay the first two months!" I responded "Excellent, I'd like to finance over two months please." ...apparently they had thought of that

Allright, I got the edge on this deal then, if I factor in everything I got, I come close to 7800 in rebate.

But overall I think we both got a good deal, besides it's very rare that a dealer gives discount of approx 10% of the car .... most i've seen and heard of are a bit shy of 5%.

Let's enjoy our new rides! Spoiling ourselves from time to time is not a bad thing

So I have been driving it for a few days and I don't regret it. I am actually happy I got "stuck" with the features I wasn't sure about. I wouldn't trade the brown for anything now - in person its a great colour - the pics Audi has of it don't do it justice. Also happy I ended up getting the Nav because it gives you a few features that are seemingly unrelated - like being able to set an 'individual' setting for drive select (even if you only have the diff).

Also happy about the S Tronic - usually am a manual guy but I'm in traffic a lot and this is the perfect solution.

Its killing me to not be able to drive it properly with the weather we've been having.
