Re: S4, S6 or Allroad ???
Guy still has the car, I think 04 (yes older style) around $23000 if I recall, can't remember the mileage. All the usual rigging, paddle shift, the two tone seats, really good shape from what I can see. If your interested I can pass on his email.

Re: S4, S6 or Allroad ???
Although I don't have experience with the exact vehicles you're considering, I was looking for another audi that could accommodate 2 adults, 2 child seats and a 100+lb Rottweiler. I prefer small cars and as I already had a S4 sedan (2.7T), I thought that I'd try an A4 avant. I'm not particularly tall at 5'10", but my knees were against the back of the driver's seat when seated 'behind myself', which wasn't going to be able to realistically allow for our rearward facing baby seat. I then tried a 2002 S6 and an 2002 Allroad (2.7T not 4.2). Both were comparable for interior dimensions, but the S6 felt like a tighter fit. The sportier seats were most likely responsible for a majority of that feeling, but I wouldn't be surprised if the roof height was a bit lower too. The S6 had a firmer ride and decent pick-up. By comparison the allroad was softer, more relaxed and felt a little more spacious. The pick-up was adequate, but right away I knew that if I got it I would get it chipped. During the S6 test drive I was driving somewhat spiritedly and could actually see the fuel gauge drop - for me, that was a major cause for pause.
In the end I chose the allroad. It was able to accommodate the rear and forward facing baby seat without moving the seats in front. Although I wouldn't characterize the fuel economy as 'great', it's not abysmal either. It is now chipped and I've swapped out the air suspension for the Arnott coil spring conversion kit and added Hotchkis front and rear sway bars. When the time comes, K04's will go in.
Good luck with your search!

Would love to see some pics of it when you get a chance.

I appreciate the offer, but I'm looking for something newer.
The Avant in the link that Mike posted is a B7, and it's stunning.

mikeh, the allroad is now more 'tuned' than the S4 is. I'm guessing maybe next year the swap to K04's will be in the works for the allroad. I love sleepers.
