To be honest, I have no idea how different they are form a chassis perspective, but to my eye, the Allroad has better proportions.
Give the 'S', in S6, I can only assume that the S6 is going to be a better performer.

Having not had the opportunity to have an S6 Avant and an Allroad side by side, is there really much difference in the bodies? I though they were the same platform with minor mods to the shape? I do have to agree about the S4 Avant, it would be my choice if there were no practicality issues, we do have a new 7 passenger Highlander (wife's) for people moving and long haul towing, but we (the wife and I) don't share well. I like to have my car and she likes to have hers

Yes, I think you're right. I know what I want, I just can't find one, and I have a very limited timeframe to find it once my current car goes.
I'm getting in contact with a broker who brings cars in from the U.S. - I'm hoping that with access to a much bigger market, one can be sourced for me.
Your link to the pictures at the meet confirmed that I really want a low mileage Sprint Blue S4 Avant - super rare I know. In the end white or dolphin will work, but I really dig the blue.
If anyone knows of a low mileage avant for sale, please let me know!
