I am considering buying a used RS4. I have owned several S4s and they blow the belts in the front tires frequently. What happens if you are in the middle of nowhere and you hit a pot hole and blow the tire? The RS 4 does not have a spare. The patch kit won't help if you break a belt in the tire. What can you do? My dealer says call roadside assistance. 19 inch tires are hard to find outside of major areas like N.B.

 

Well you can put a spare in the trunk in the bag and keep it there. Thats the best solution. Now the problem witht that is, due to awd, yoiu always have to change all 4 tires if one blows, otherwise it will kinda vibrate and you risk damaging your transmission. So when you get back to the city you have to dish out some cash for that. I use nankang that i picked up here in toronto. The sport summer once ran me into about 90 a peace and they are actually pretty good, i was surprised at that. Im not sure how long they will last but the hadling and braking is superb even in wet wether. I am a pretty spirited driver, so even for me they do quite well.

 

remember that you can always shave tires to keep them within spec, you don't have to replace all 4
