Doing stage 3 on my s4 soon. Couple questions
Not sure what clutch to get. Some people say that the vast stage 3 kit won't last very long because it uses an rs4 pressure plate. I'm thinking of going with either clutchmasters stage 4 kit with a fidanza lwaf or a southbend stage 4 kit with the same flywheel (fidanza). Anybody have an experience they would like to share?
Thanks in advance

Re: Doing stage 3 on my s4 soon. Couple questions
The B5 RS4 Pressure Plate is rated for a normal lifespan at 380HP and is considered good. It is the RS4 Clutch Disk that you may not want to use for 2.7T full Stage 3 as there are better and longer lasting options available from VAST / JHM / etc.
Since the StgIII 2.7T is capable of surpassing OEM RS4 power levels and depending on your horsepower and torque goals, you may want to look at heavier duty units over and above RS4 PP and Clutch parts.

its a cool video, but for some reason my tuner said to go with a stage 4 clutch just to be safe. He has a 800hp s4, so I think he knows what he's talking about

What are your B5 S4 Horsepower and Torque goals? Daily driver or drag car or both etc ?
2.7T Stage III can be anywhere between 350HP & 1000+HP and clutch choices will vary accordingly.
Many report annoying clutch chatter with lightweight flywheels so suggest some more research. There are reasons why OEM used dual mass flywheel for daily drivers

and...I'm pretty sure Jay b quick knows what he's talking about, as do Mike and Prince at VAST, who build out GT B5 cars more often than I wash my car. While your tuner (whose advice you seem to be second guessing by starting this thread) might have a mythical '800 hp S4' I'm going to stick with the boys from JHM and VAST.
JHM/VAST have tuned:
- fastest full interior K04 S4 ever
- fastest K03 S4 ever
- dozens of RS6 turbo and GTxxxx S4s that produce enough torque to twist a K04 into the shape of a pterodactyl

I do know what tune I'm doing. If anyone has had bad luck with these cars, it's me. I blew two brand new sets of k03s. I'm just trying to see if I can get a good deal. You don't have to take a **** on me. I didn't mean to bash vast at all, I know that they are the best. I'm just questioning the rs4 pressure plate.
