Default 2000 S4 tip Question (1st to 2nd)

When I drive in tip mode, the shift from 1st to second is quick, like 1800 RPM

I don't have to select 2nd because it auto shifts.

Just wondering if that's normal. All other gears hold the RPM until I flip it

Thanks,
Dave

hey dave,

It's all good, I wouldn't worry about this. I have a 2001 S4 and mine does the same.

Your car is set up that way to, in my opinion, avoid you riding your first gear and damaging any components. You can always get things reprogrammed so your gear ratios are different and what not, so you can always explore that option.

Short answer but i hope it helps.

All the best,

Fab

you dont even need to go to that extent and re-program the gears you can just reprogram not to shift from 1st to second.

thanks for your response, i'm looking to buy an S4 2001 and was thinking it as a problem. I consider this a problem because it's fun to hear it and be at steady 3000 RPM and kick the gas. My A4 2003 stay in first gear when in manual mode. So :
1move, how can you "reprogram not to shift from 1st to second"?
