I'm in Maple. Going to keep the rims for snow tires, found a workaround to the TPMS system.

Default expenses of owning an A4 in canada

hey i just registered to ask a couple questions, I'm an 18 year old whom is currently looking for a car and for some reason the a4 stands out the most, being a luxury sedan and all. I've been looking around for a4's in the $5000-6000 range and i haven't had any problems finding any. problem is, i often hear the car is a money pit and how parts are hard and expensive to get. My father is really quite fixated on the whole expensive part thing. so i can hopefully get the car, but i imagine something terrible will go, giving my dad reason to kick my *** and say he told me so. so basically i was wondering, are there like any cheaper or say discount north American parts that are compatible with audi's or just a4's in general? and what are the chances that something major will go wrong and need major repair
basically Im looking for counter-arguments and stuff for the expenses.

thanks.

I own a 2001 1.8T Quattro A4 which I bought new. The costs for the first 4 years for operating this vehicle were minimal. Since then, I've replaced tires for about $600 and spent $450 for a 96,000 km service plus sunroof + $1763 for a 104,000 km service plus replacing left and right front lower rear bent arms. I'm now looking at $2000 for a 112,000 km service plus replacing the timing belt and water pump plus servicing the throttle body and fuel injection and flushing the coolant and brake fluid. Owning and maintaining a used Audi A4 is turning out to be an expensive situation. Yes, they are nice looking and well appointed, but the poor handling and cash drain will disappoint you.

If you can find one with a complete maintenence record and in great condition then it is one to go for however these are much more expensive.

My advice to you right now would be not to jump the gun on an Audi. I definitely didn't have one when I was 18, i'm not sure what your financial situation is but repairs on this car will kill you if you cannot DIY some basic things.

There is a reason these cars are in the luxury segment of the market and you're definitely going to spend more maintaining it than you would on a Honda lets say. For some of us, this is made up in quality and the sheer fun and safety of Quattro however you need to see what is important to you and whether you can actually fully swing this purchase before buying.

Yes they can be pricey. It depends as stated above what your financial situation is like. I think you might find something cheaper to maintain in your price range. Mk4 GTi comes to mind....nice and cheap to mod as well
good luck

Default 50% off: OZ Racing Titan 17" rims & Toyo Proxes 4 tires (*pics*)

This sale is for 4 OZ Racing Titan imported 17" rims, mounted with Toyo Proxes 4 tires. The whole set was mounted and balanced professionally.
These were on my Toyota Celica, but they fit many other brands, including some Audis.

I realize that I'm new here, but if you want to check my credentials, I've dealt previously with many members on other sites and my feedback is impeccable: NewCelica.org (NewCelica.org Forum - Trader Ratings - Omnious), and on C7Performance.com.

-RIMS-

Manufacturer: O.Z. Racing Limited.
Model: Titan (7 spokes).
Origin: Imported from Italy.
Type: One piece alloy (solid and light). Engraved OZ logo on one spoke for each rim.
Color: Crystal Titanium (silver with titanium highlights).
Size: 17" x 8".
Bolt patterns: 5x100 and 5x108, for tuner or ordinary lugs.
Offset: ET +35.
Center caps: included with theft-deterrent key.
Aluminum valve stems and caps: included.
Condition: Excellent. Only one rim has a small rash. Visible only up-close and easily removable. The other rims are impeccable.

-TIRES-

Manufacturer: Toyo Tires.
Model: Proxes 4
Size: 215/45/17 (Reinforced)
Type: Ultra high Performance and all-season (Reviews)
Seed rating: W (168 MPH or 270 Km/h)
Load rating: 91 (1356 lbs or 615 kg)
Wear: minor and even, still 85% thread left. Only used for one summer and a half. Never did any burnouts and got then balanced and aligned every season.

These are beautiful and stylish imported wheels with top of the line tires.
The tires will easily last another 2-3 years.

This whole set cost me over 2000$ Canadian (without taxes) when purchased new 2 years ago.
I'm selling them for less than half of that: 950$CA (+ shipping, for details see next paragraph).
*I can also accept payment plans over 2 months if you prefer (50/50)*

-SHIPPING-

For Canadian members: I live in Montreal, Quebec (Canada). If you are not located too far and don't want to pay for shipping, I'm prepared to deliver these to you (I'm willing to drive about 1 hour away at most).
Otherwise, shipping is available through Greyhound Courier Express. After checking with them, it seems that shipping these would cost around 40-45$CA.

For US members: shipping across the border will probably cost a lot, but you're in luck, I often visit Burlington, in Vermont, so I could arrange to bring these down there and ship them to you through Greyhound Package Xpress. Shipping would probably be around the same range: 40-45$US.

For international members: I guess I could have these shipped to you but you would have to cover the entire shipping fee.

-PHOTOS-
My apologies, the rims and tires are a little dusty.

If interested, please send me a PM with your offers, or post in this thread.
First come, first served.

Thank you.
Jack.
