Default Re: Audi A4 Quattro vs 325xi in snow

I think the fact that Audi has been doing AWD for decades puts them in first place. With everything said and done, I think most AWD systems will get you through Ontario snow falls without much fuss.

I think if Audi made a pure off-road vehicle that had the ability to do some seriously rock climbing and tree busting maneuvers it would outdo any HUMVEE. I would LOVE to drive through mounds of mud and tree stumps with a slick set of LED DRLs on a beast of a truck...

I've driven both in Quebec and Ontario. For the weather we get, both cars will do fine, though I prefer the Audi in deep snow. It definitely feels more secure / stable, whereas the BMW requires a bit more attention to driving.

Default "Mode" and Bluetooth Setup

Does anyone know how to set up "Mode" and the Bluetooth buttons on the steering wheel? The instructions in the Owner's Manual are not very clear.

Your help is greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Default Re: "Mode" and Bluetooth Setup

Turn ignition on (no need to start engine) and turn radio on.

You have 5 minutes to pair your phone to the radio. On your phone go into the bluetooth management area and start the bluetooth device pairing process (this is a phone specific). You will likely need a pairing key which by default for the Audi bluetooth system is 1234.

Once you are paired, pressing the mode button will enable Bluetooth phone operation.

Exclamation Help, A4 Avant 3.0 Quattro Pulling and steering issues

I recently had my steering rack replaced on my Audi due to failure, since getting the car back, I have had a hard time keeping the car in a straight line on any road surface. Frustrated I had my car looked at by a second mechanic only to find out that the centring pin used in the steering rack for installation hadn't been switched out for the shorter metal plug. The mechanic was convinced that this was the reason that my car was acting so inconsistent. With this advice I took the car back to the garage that installed the rack to resolve the issue. Not convinced that a centring pin could cause enough damage to disrupt the steering, they examined the car for a week, switching out the wheels, getting alignments done, testing the shocks. Finally they called me in to ask if I would be willing to replace all my control arms, they were convinced that because they were old and worn, there was enough play to make the car pull to the right. They were partly convinced because they took the alignment specs from a month old alignment I had done and compared them to their results. There were some numbers that didn't match up in areas where no manual adjustment was possible. I took their advice, regretably, and had all of them replaced.

In short, the car still won't centre on the road, any road, and if it does, it is for a brief moment. I have major issues with the pull to the right, so much so that even half a city block and I am in one to two lanes over. It does however also pull left at times. This is NOT a road camber issue.

Any advice would really be appreciated.

Default Window Trim Blackout/Advice?

I made the mistake of getting the chrome window trim on my A4 2005 (B6), 3.0L Quattro blacked out at the wrong shop. They didn't remove it first and got paint on the body and windows, the colour is uneven, there are streaks, and of course chips as well.

I want to try to fix this up properly, so I am planning to remove the trim, cleanup the paint, and apply the following product to the trim:
shadowlinetrim.com

Does anyone have experience with this shadowline vinyl product, and any clue how difficult (and how to do it) it will be to remove the trim myself?

If I could go back I would have just traded my chrome trim with someone who has the OEM black trim, just wish I thought of that earlier :/
