Need Receipts for Warranty
Hi Everyone...
I am in desperate need of some help. I own a 2004 Audi A4 1.8 Turbo
that is currently in need of new engine. The engine hasn't been
receiving the oil properly and therefore should be covered under my
extended warranty for a replacement. I have provided my dealer with
the appropriate receipts showing that I had oil changes done every
10,000 miles but they are also requesting receipts for the oil and oil
filters I purchased.( I supplied these items to my mechanic). Of
course I paid cash for the oil and filters and no longer have the
receipts and of course without them I will not be covered under the
warranty. Therfore, I need HELP!!
Anyone out there have receipts of oil and oil filters that I can
use???? I will pay for them, I just need them imdiatley so I can get
my car back!! I am a single mom and have no idea how I can even
possibly come up with the $9000 they are asking for to repair my
engine. Any receipts will help! Please contact me!
Thank you!!!

I presume they require those receipts to prove you used the correct
grade of oil and changed the filter.

Re: Need Receipts for Warranty
Hmmm if you are in CA and the receipts seem to come from all parts of the
country or the world, that would seem weird!
Also you would need to include the dates that you claimed you had the oil
changed or purchased the oil.
Where did you purchase the oil and filters from?
Try to remember when you bought the parts and where. Maybe that store can
get you some receipts.
Your mechanic should be able to produce all of the receipts that you need.
The dealer WILL check out your evidence!
This is a harsh lesson that everyone needs to pay heed to!
ALWAYS KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS!!!! PAY WITH CREDIT CARDS OR CHECKS!!!
BTW 10,000 miles between oil changes seems a little too long to me.

Me too, but my Audi dealer says that's the service interval for
my '04 TT. I stared at him is slack jawed amazement and asked
him if he was kidding, but no. Ten grand between changes.
Ich libe mine Audi.

Re: Need Receipts for Warranty
But your TT is slightly different and holds 0.5 quarts more AFAIK since the
engine is transversely mounted.
With the sludge problems the 1.8t engine has had, I am surprised the oil
change interval is 10K miles.
AND if you can't prove the oil changes that have been done when you need
them...................Well 8^o
You have to use the proper oil too!
I bought my A4 with a bad engine due to the oil cooler seal blowing.
Today I see another 1.8t engine gone bad due to the improper oil,
non-synthetic. Now the owner has to sell his '01 Passat for whatever he can
get since engines cost too much $$$$ for the average person. SAD!

My TT is way different, as it is constructed entirely out of .

Maybe. I held out for the 3.2.

I'm having then all done at the dealer. I don't care if it costs
a little more. I mean, come on. There's a reason I didn't get a
Toyota.

If I had a 1.8 engine, I'd probably be real careful about keeping
up with the maintenance, and I'd leave no record unrecorded.

Yes, we have been programmed to every 3k. Cheaply built motors leaked like
there is no tomorrow.
Since synthetic (majority of Americans fear) the mileage has increased.
I get 10k on my new Avalanche.

Every car (all European) I have ever owned over the last 20 years have
had 10/12k or 12 mths whichever is sooner. Not one ever had the
slightest problem with the engine, although a couple made up for that in
other areas!
My 2003 A4 diesel has variable interval which I believe is upto 24k
miles however I favour 12 mthly fixed intervals because of the age and
it's used for mainly town driving. Audi specify fully synthetic 0w30
for the variable servicing and 5w30 for fixed interval.
They'll want to see the OP receipts for this as a lower specification
could cause engine damage, it's often blamed for sludge build ups in
engines.
