Greg:

Could you let me know how you managed to fix this in case you still remember. I have an 2001 A6 4.2 and the same thing just happened to me yesterday and last night, the night it started to rain!

This happened to my 2000 A6 4.2 recently. The windows just started randomley rolling down on their own, and ing had to wipe interior out when it rained. Through a little online research I saw someone else replaced the door latch and it fixed the problem. I noticed after taking the driver side front door panel off and unplugging the electronic latch the windows ceased rolling down on their own. Found an aftermarket latch from hans auto parts for $33.00. I took the door panel off, took the subframe out (with window rolled down), and replaced it. Three weeks later and the windows have stayed rolled up. It took $33.00 and 3 hours of my time, and I'm a dental hygienist, not a mechanic. I don't even want to know what the dealer would have quoted, lol.
