Hey,
Just picked up my etron, great car.

Quick question: did yours come with any cargo nets or mats in the trunk? Mine was bare, but it is specced with a "storage package" (standard in all models).

The package is: "This comprehensive storage system provides ample and convenient spaces for a wide variety of storage needs, including side pockets, floor tiedowns, a floor net and bag hangers."
Trim lines and packages > A3 Sportback e-tron > Audi Canada

As far as I can tell, I don't have "floor tiedowns" or the "floor net". Do you know what that is or have any pics of them?

Thanks again!

The dealer told me the nice wall mounted box has a price of $745. I think that is just for the box, not the charger itself.

The $1000 rebate is split - $500 for the charger and $500 for a professional installation.

I ordered the winter mats, which include a trunk liner. I have not noticed tie downs, and certainly don't have cargo nets in the trunk.

Congrats on picking up your e-tron!

I was at the dealer yesterday (looking at winter wheels/tires) and they mentioned they grossly underestimated demand for the e-tron. They had only pre-ordered a few, unsure of what the demand would be. They've already sold several, which will take months to come in.

Thanks GJS! Very excited about it.

I also got winter mats, but no trunk liner. Not a big deal that I don't have any nets though, don't think they'll be all that useful anyway. I have my dealer checking into it for me though, so I'll follow up if anything comes of that.

As for your other post--I'm not surprised they're selling quickly, the same is true with Chevy Volts as those are also hard to come by. The Ontario charger install rebates and vehicle rebates for the Volt and e-Tron are so damn good in Ontario that, combined with fuel savings, these cars become very attractive options.

So both of you have had your e-trons for ~6 months now, can I get your thoughts on the car?
How many km's have you driven? What are your pro's and con's? How's the car holding up?
I know winter AER is awful, but with the warmer temps, are you getting the range you expected?

I've driven ~4,000 kms. No repairs/maintenance to report. I have the stock Technik--no sport package and no technology package (ie no acc and no pre sense front). I do have the blind spot warnings, B&O sound system, nav, sunroof, chrome rails, and regular 17s.

Overall, very positive experience with the 2016 etron. I'd only replace it with a 2017 etron, or maybe the chevy volt (2016+). I bought it instead of leasing, but the lease deals look amazing for some of these cars when you consider the rebates in Ontario.

Pros:
-driving experience. the torque in EV only / hybrid mode + quiet ride when on EV is great. I love driving in a quiet cabin even if I'm in busy city streets. I have the 17s (no sport package) and they absorb the road nicely, which is important to me since i frequently drive in Toronto.

-fuel economy. I'm probably 50% on electric and 50% on gas. even when on gas I'm quite happy with the fuel economy. I drove from Toronto to Ottawa entirely on gas, took 5/8ths of a tank (~25L or so).

-looks good! still love how it looks 6 months later. Mine is the stock white, although I do think the dark grey colour is the best colour you can get for the car.

-price: the rebate is even bigger in Ontario, as its $8k now vs $6K when I got it. You can get a base model at $39K msrp+$2K delivery+$5K taxes-$8K rebate = $38K all-in before any haggling. Not bad!

-sound system: B&O is awesome! I have no idea how it compares to audi sound system, but it's miles better than anything else I've had in my previous vehicles.

-chrome roof rails: i didn't think I'd like them but they actually make the car look very slick compared to an A3 without them. it's crazy to me what a difference such a small detail makes....plus they're very functional for mounting actual stuff to your roof

Cons:
-Range will never be close to what audi claims it is. I swear the people who report 30-40 km on average are either lying to themselves to make themselves feel better about being lied to, or drive downhill to work. In summer I'll hit 10-20km per charge and in the winter, 5-10km (realistically closer to 5km). Still, if your commute is 20km, that's a significant amount of savings on fuel, but it could be much higher.

-no econnect - there are no connect services with the etron (or any Canada Audi I guess)? It'd be nice to be able to remotely preheat the car, especially in the winter (like other etrons can). You can set up a schedule to do the preheating but I find it's not all that useful because you need to reset it often. You also can't send locations to the car over the internet which would be nice.

-navigation: it's alright, but it's annoying because it doesn't have the e-connect to push locations to it, and the traffic updates are pretty crappy.

-no spare tire: first time driving a car without one. hasn't been an issue yet but I'm nervous for the day when I'll wish I had one...

-I WISH I WAITED A YEAR TO BUY: the virtual cockpit and the new front of the 2017 etron looks amazing. Wait for the new model year if you're thinking of buying it!

-No quattro, although you already knew that. I went through the entire winter without it and thought it was fine, of course I drive mostly in the city and nearby suburbs, where the roads are well maintained. if you do lots of drives in the winter to more remote areas, you might want it more.

-if you live in a condo, don't expect it to be easy to install an EV charger. I've had the car 6 months and I don't think I'll ever get my charge port installed in my condo garage. Thankfully my work + some other areas I frequent often have free charging, so that's worked out nicely for me.

-charge port in the front: it's only a matter of time before those rings hiding the charge port break off by accident... it feels so flimsy. It is fine right now though.

-no carplay / android auto. it's offered by so many already, a bit of a letdown that a 2016 audi doesn't.

Thank you for taking the time to put together such a detailed response.
I suppose my commute is greater than yours. I've already done over 6,600 kms since I picked it up at the end of Feb. My overall stats say 76% emission free.
I gotta say Thanks. My e-tron is grey.
That's pretty amazing that you can drive to Ottawa on less than a tank. My daughter is there for school and I took our ICE instead of the Audi.
I can honestly say that I can get roughly 33 kms of range on my daily commutes. Didn't have a lot of cold weather driving this year, but those cold days did take a toll on AER.
I agree with all your comments. I've been very happy with driving this car so far. It is possible to get some tremendous efficiency. Today was my 1st time filling the tank since April 26th and 2,055 kms (1.67 l/100 km).
Did you know that there's a month Audi meet up (last Thurs) at the Home Depot (Wilson and Dufferin)? Lot of Audi owners show up. I went to one recently and only 2 A3 Sportbacks were there, mine being the only e-tron.
Check out audizine.com or Audi True North on FB.
Would like to meet other e-tron owners in the GTA.

Hi All

New to the forum! Use to be active on Audizine when I had the A4s and the first gen A3. I recently took delivery (under a week old!) of a A3 e-Tron. Love the car. My wife drives a CT200h, and previous the the A3, I had a Ford Focus Electric (worse car decision I ever made is Ford) that I traded in for the A3. And so far, this car is the best among the 3, its the best value. Some aspect of it doesn't feel as luxury as the CT, but handling and ride comfort is definitely best.

I haven't done enough test to see what is my best driving mode. Though I thought I would share my experieince so far. I live in King city and drive to work daily, mostly downtown Toronto, but occasionally I need to work out of our Brampton campus. So far, I only had one chance to start my morning with a full charge, and it just so happen that it was to the Brampton office (The other days, I think we set something wrong, so the car didn't charge). So I still need to figure out the most fuel efficient setting for myself

That one morning for the Brampton commute the car started registering a range of electric range of 40km and gas range of 590. I got to the Bramlea town centre (they have free chargers BTW) with electric range of 0km but gas range is still at 59. So I think i did manage to squeeze quite a bit out of the battery on my way there. I made a 1 hour stop here to charge the car to about 50% before i headed to the office.

All in all, that one day, I calculated that I used about 1 litre of gas. That works for me!

That said, i did all of my commute on local back streets instead of the highway, so it took an additional 10 minutes more than taking the 407

Welcome bishamonten
The e-tron is a wonderful car to drive and can be very efficient. I've had mine since late Feb '16 and have driven over 7,000 km thus far. Obviously having the ability to charge your car is key in getting the best economy and there are plenty of places to charge. Just hope that they are in the areas you'll be at.
Although Audi's GPS has charging stations within the POI, I've installed 4 apps to help me out. ChargeHub, ChargePoint (apply for the card), PlugShare and Sun Country. I find that each could show different results for where I'm going. For instance, PlugShare shows a ChargePoint station close to my work, but the ChargePoint app doesn't list it. ???? yeah!
If you do have a CS where you're going, I would drive in EV mode (depending on distance that is) and charge up for the drive back. For me, driving from Whitby to Markham (38 km) I'm mostly in EV and for 5-10 mins I'm use hybrid auto. With that combo, I've gone about 4 weeks before getting gas (33L to fill up). I also ensure I use EV mode when going uphill. But that's me. I'm sure many others have their own style and technique.
There are a few other sites that I've joined that help with any questions I have.
speakev.com, audizine.com, myaudia3etron.com and speakev.com
Since you're in the GTA, a meet up of Audi owners happens monthly at Dufferin and Wilson (home depot). I was the only e-tron at the last meet up. It would be nice to meet other e-tron owners. Hope you can make it.

I am not really a club meet type of person, went to the local Porsche meet a couple of times, people are too busy explaining why their car are better than others of the same model, since then I haven't been to any meet. Though I will try, I think E-Tron people are all good

Finally had a chance to drive down with a full charge this morning, BTW, the manual is a bit confusing, maybe someone can shed some light on this one. The car is not charging when it was shut off with 'Battery hold" mode, is that normal? Why does it even have a setting like that anyways? Just so people can use 100% of the gas engine?

Anyways, my drive down this morning. Local again, route was from Yonge/King down Yonge to Lawrence, cut across to Mt Pleasant, then down to Bloor/Church where the office is. Car started with the battery registering at 50KM. Total distance, according to "Computer 1", is 31.8KM, Emission free at 98%, with only 2% fuel usage. The meter still shows the battery will give me another 15KM!

That said, the route has a lot of down hill, so that probably would have contributed to the efficiency. The trip home will involve some highway, so we will see
