diesel oil when the car needs 5w40 or 0w40 full synthetic? not sure if that would be suggested to use diesel oil...

I have used diesel oil as a cleaning agent for my motors. I usually add about 1/4 of total volume as diesel synthetic, the rest is my usual oil. Diesel has far more detergents, thus it is great for cleaning, I just don't know about long term use with the seals in a gas engine. I have heard that some use it as an everyday motor oil, I have not gone to that extreme yet.
