The 98 example comes to a point where after let's say 5-6 years after itwas brand spanking new then yes you should get it. But if you just got the car... Hell why waste money on it? If you want to get rid of the salt after a night, spray wash the under carriage and its all gone. Majority underneath are rust resistant and the only you should be concerned about is the skid plate under engine. Making sure that is tight and holding up. That's where ur vulnerably is when it comes to salt and everything else is. Other than that.. Forget the oil. But hey ur car ur choice. Mines an 04 and I havezero problems with rust under than my new custom exhaust. Everything else is perfect when I got it. I live in toronto and I would know how well this baby can take. And trust me this baby is awesome and can take a serious punishment with salt. All you have to worry about is the newb drivers with RWD thinking then can power out and spin out of control.

Having just replaced the shocks in my 99, I can tell you the rear subframe rusts. And it rusts pretty bad. Mine kind of looked like a nice flakey pastry. Still structurally sound, but if you hit anything under there with a hammer, it rains rust. Always wear safety glasses under the back of your car... :P
