The alloys on my Audi A6 1.8T (UK) are looking very tatty due to lacquer
peel but are otherwise undamaged.
No-one I have spoken to is aware where I can get them returned to their
original finish.
This is a common problem with my sort of wheel I understand.
My assumption is that they can only be
1.Sprayed ?
or
2. Powder Coated ?
Does anyone know what will provide the best finish and be resilient enough
to last a reasonable amount of time without looking tatty again ?

A wheel-repair specialist can strip, repair any curb rash, and repaint with
lacquer color and clear coats. Over Here it'll cost roughly $100-150 depending
on how much repair work is required...

Just had the alloy's on my 95 Audi Coupe refinished by Wicked Wheels.
The operator for the Cumbrian region (I'd guess that they are a
franchise based company) did an excellent job on stripping them,
taking out any dings, knocks and kerb damage with liquid metal.
Spraying them and applying several coats of clear lacqure. They really
do look as good as new.

The best part of it though is that he travels to your house in a van
modified to take all the equipment and does the lot there (take off
wheels, treat and replace them) - he even makes his own coffee! £40
plus vat per wheel although given that yours may only need a little
work you could try negotiating!
