hi,

I am also interested to be part of the action suit.
I have A4 2012 Quattro and been adding oil after every 800km. Is this harmful for the car ?
Based on what i m reading it is useless to contact audi.
what should I do ?

Thank you all

Include me,

I own a 2012 Q5 2.0 TFSI (CAEB - confirmed with Hamilton Audi dealer). It was bought new from the Pfaff Audi dealership in Vaughan in March 2012.

My vehicle has been burning oil now for many months. I would probably say since early 2020. I couldn't figure out why, so I took it to a local mechanic to check for leaks etc (non found and no other issues). Until I started investigating online and found that these engines have had oil burning/consumption problems and the fix was to replace pistons/rings and in some cases the whole engine. I think I noticed this around 119,000KM.

I contacted Audi, asked them about this and they said my car does not qualify for reimbursements or recall as it's out of the model year range. I feel it should be included as it's still the same engine and shows the same issues as the previous model years.

They advised me to get a consumption test with an authorized Audi dealer or specifically where I bought the car and go from there; but won't say or offer compensation for any tests/service/parts which could be thousands. I did not do this as the problem is evident. My local mechanic, where I have gotten oil changes the last couple years did a consumption test - results would be same.
Audi wants to know if the oil is burning under 1000km, then they might consider doing something otherwise it's considered normal according to them. But they want me to do this at an Audi dealership.
That's Ludacris though as it will vary but always around 1k so they don't have to do anything. I have never known anyone with a car or owned a car where burning 1 liter of oil around 1000km was normal.

I am still today, adding 1L oil when the light comes up, I can't afford to get another vehicle right now or consider the $6000++ cost for new pistons/rings/labour. I feel taken advantage of and being lied to for a problem that can be clearly seen by Audi owners and the car maker does not want to do anything about it.

Audi needs to make it right.

Additional to this, has anyone reported to Transport Canada or any other governing body?
Doesn't this fall under potential safety concerns as well?
Anyone aware of process to report to Transport Canada or bring up as a issue with additional Audi engines?

I have the exact same problem as you and same timeline.

2012 AUDI A4 2.0T QUA PREMIUM
SEDAN 4 DR 2.0L L4 DIR DOHC 16V GASOLINE ALL WHEEL DRIVE

I bought it in 2012 from Audi Markham, and at around 120K, started noticing engine oil burning too fast. Right now around 135K and it's burning 1L a month.

Please advise how I can get on the Class Action lawsuit against Audi Canada and get this repaired at their cost at the Audi Dealership.

Thank you

Audi of America has recently settled in a class action suit with our southern neighbours (USA) to the tune of over 23 million dollars. Even covering the cost of previous engine work done to Audi engines at Audi dealerships.

The issue, as many of you know, lies in the piston rings being incorrect from the factory. Audi has known this since 2008. It is a world wide problem
There is a new design for piston rings, pistons, and connecting rods for the CAEB engine.

If you have a CAEB 2.0 engine burning oil , 1 liter per 1000kms - give or take.
If you paid out of pocket for the oil consumption test part 1 or 2 you could also be reimbursed. Please contact me through audi forum.ca, if you want more info.

I have many links as well as the legal documents for the case that closed this past October 2014.

I am helping the law office build a plaintiff list. This is a class action suit with hundred or potentially thousands of plaintiffs, there will be no upfront cost to anyone, just information sent to the law office, not to me.
To fins out if your engine is the CAEB you can call your local dealer with your VIN#.

I will happily pass you the information of the law office, or vice versa, I am happy to act as a middle man.
Many of us have been living with this problem for far too long. We paid a premium for the Audi name and its heritage and its far time Audi correct this issue.

Same issue here. 2014 Audi Q5 purchased used used in 2018. Always consumed more oil than expected but now consumes 650mL of oil per 1000 km. this is a manufacturing / design flaw for a modern car. How do I join the class action lawsuit in Canada?

Hello,
how can I get Audi to fix this issue? I have a 2011 A5 coupe that consumes 1 litre every 500km. Is there any link to fill out the form?
