Default Early Tire Wear

Just had my car in to have a vibration issue looked at before heading down to the states for a ski trip and was told/shown my two rear tires and how they were worn down past the wear indicator.

Car has 32,000km and I had the tires rotated @ 14,000km. My service guy explained that they've had a lot of early wear issues with the factory Pirelli P6's, just curious if anyone else has seen/had the same thing.

They are the S-Line wheels with 235/45 R18 Pirelli P6 all season tires.

I bit the bullet and put on 4 new Toyo all season tires that my service guy said are a WAY better built tire.

I have the same wheel/tire combo S-Line/P6; 39000 km and still feels like at least 2-3mm before I would be at the wear bars. Might be different driving styles; I'm conservative with probably a 70/30 city/highway driving mix. Looking to get 60-70000 km out of this set. Have easily got 80000 out of Michelins on other vehicles. Proper tire pressure is key.

I do a lot of highway driving, probably close to 60/40 highway/city if not more but I check the tire pressure every other fill up and I've never had to add air, they've always sat around the 29/30 mark when cold.

Nice try. I've seen the way you haul *** around the city!

Actually I've heard a lot of people on different forums complain about those P6's wearing fast. From customer feedback, they don't rate very highly on Tire Rack's website either. Most people say they probably wouldn't buy them again.

I wouldn't either after that.

We'll see how long these new Toyo's last.

same here, never used them myself, but after reading TR reviews, I don't think I would. I am a fan of continental tires, and I think those toyo's should be much better suited to your needs and car
