Hello,

While coming close to the paint of the car (ibis white), I noticed small orange (myb rust) spots on the doors, trunk...everywhere.

I mean I just got the car in Feb 2011. Its a 2008.

What the hell is that? And could it be that the car is rusting?

I know that Audis have a 12 year warranty against rust.

And for the S-line moldings on the side of the doors, is it easy to replace any of them? Some a**hole took a small chunk from one of the molding when opening the door. Not visible. But I dont like it.

Have the same spots on my door, would love to have a solution. Not noticeable to the eye from distance but I know they're their which errks me!..

Everybody gets these and it's just more noticeable on a white vehicle. I have two neighbours with a white car and a white truck that are covered with them. One source can be the tiny shavings left behind by snowplough blades/runners, combined with road salt. This get's thrown all over the bottom of your car and becomes embedded on the surface, where it continues to rust. i picked up my silver Avant in January and noticed some when I did my first wash/wax. I haven't noticed any new deposits since winter.

They come off easily with a mild abrasive polish(not wax). I just cleaned these off my friends car with my swirl remover polish and a rag.

 

Apparently these spots can also go away using a clay bar.

I have not done it yet. I will try this week or the next and I will let you know how that works out.

 

I did not find that a claybar will take them off after trying it this past weekend . It removes some spots with aggressive rubbing, but this is not the best way to use your claybar. It will shear off and remove embedded contaminants, but the rust seems to need more rubbing to remove them and I have found a polish works well.

I used Prima Swirl Remover since I have it on hand. I'm sure any mild polish or swirl/scratch remover will work also.

 

i have my car done with claybar 2x a year to remove it. it sucks on the white because it can been noticed much easier. comes right off and claybar really smooths out the car too!

 

this is rust flick from your rotors that just sits on your paint.

elbow grease will get it out

try all kinds of stuff...1Z bug and tar remover...claybar...and it will go away.
