Exactly a year ago I had the v-belt, ribbed belt, timing belt (all Bosch belts) water pump, a full syn oil change with proper oversize Bosch filter (better oil distribution for turbo charger - 1.8T) and coolant system flushed all for $850 with tax.

You need to find a mechanic you can trust. One for which you can honestly call your friend. One who squarely looks you in the eye when he answers your question "so how much am I looking at". And lastly, fare. Your mechanic must be fare to you when he write up the amount of labour time needed to preformed the given tasks and the quality of replacement parts. Whether their OEM or equally decent aftermarket parts.

I wish you luck and please dont pay $1400 for the one belt. That's downright highway robbery.

 

I have a quote of about $1350 to do the timing belt and associated parts on my 3.0 V6.

 

we have to remember that the 1.8 and the v6 engines are different.

1.8t would be about 800-900 for the job.
v6 would be about 1300-1500 for the job.

of course these are not dealership's price. Those would be higher.

I just got my car back from Arthur at EuroCars (in Etobicoke). Just under $1400 taxes in. He used Bosch parts which saves me some $ on the parts end of things.

Overall, the car seems great and Arthur is a very nice and knowledgeable guy.

 

How long did it take? I got mine done at Independent last week. It was a bit of a hassle getting there and back with the rental and all, but everything came back working

 

I dropped it off at 9:30 am and picked it up at 6:30. There's around $500 in labour on the bill, so I figure it was 5 hours of work (more or less). I was lucky, I work 3Km's from EuroCars so I got a lift to the office from my business partner and I just took a cab back there after work.

I must say it's a bit depressing spending this kind of money and have the car drive exactly the same, but hey, it's preventative maintenance.

BTW, if you don't mind sharing, what was your final bill?

 

Hi MarkUsMax, Where did you take your A4 for the timing belt done? I am in Vancouver and need to replace timimg belt soon. Small jobs I can do it myself. I do not know any mechanic beside the dealer. Any good lead!

 

So for the b6 3.0 1300 is a good price for complete timing belt change??

What about Only Audi? I hear they are a good. But a bit on the pricy side.

 

Is it just the belt or are they doing the water pump and thermostat as well?
