Power steering rack shot
Hi guys,
So my oil leak turned out to be the steering rack. It's shot. Quote is $1700 + tax.
Any suggestions on how I can save some bucks. Happy freakin' New Year to me.

Re: Power steering rack shot
Install yourself? Buy used? Buy a quality rebuilt one? When my rack went, I bought rebuilt one from a knowledgeable rebuilder (if they do good work, they should have a good warranty) for about $300. I Installed it in less than 2 hours.
I bought my rack from these guys: Jorgen Auto. I grilled them about their machining and they knew what they were talking about, and the back it with a lifetime warranty.

Re: Power steering rack shot
Good news, I think. I found a company out in Scarborough that specialized in rebuilding power steer pumps and racks. They can sell me a rack for $450 and install for around $400. That's $850, which is half of my original quote. Anyone have any experience with this company: CANADIAN AUTO ELECTRIC | Auto Electric Parts | Auto Electric Service Toronto Ontario

Re: Power steering rack shot
Where did you get this done and how much is it going to cost you in total?
Thanks,
