So i just bought an audi a4 USP and when the temperature is under -0c there is a whining noise comming from the front end.

If i move the steering the noise is just getting wrost.

My steering dosen't feel right, it's some time just start going one direction, like if the car is Aquaplanning.... can't describe it better sorry.

Also my tire are completly finish so maybe it's why my steering acting so weird.

1st thing you need to do is check the level of your power steering fluid and make sure it is filled to the MAX level.

Next with the reservoir open and car running, gently turn the steering wheel in both directions and watch for any air bubbles that might occur.

Bubbles generally imply fluid was low or there is a leak at one of the connections. The connector at the bottom of the power steering pump/reservoir is plastic and was the cause of leakage in my case on my 2005 A4 3.0 V6.

Also remove the plastic cover over the engine and check the power steering connections on the metal power steering pipes that are towards the top of the engine; there's an article somewhere on the forums indicating these have been another possible leakage point.

Il check for leak... didint know air could cause noise.

i just bought a bottle of vw/audi genuine P/S fluid. I don't think it will hurt to replace the liquid xD

Thx for input. I just heard from a mechanic that the steering rack frequently fail on the b6 a4 platform.

 

I replaced my power steering fluid, Made sure there is no air in the sytem, I can still ear that noise when it'S cold outside.

I guesss im gonna have to replace my pump. I just hope it's not the rack .
