umm if you delete the mufflers there is a big difference in sound. The purpose of the mufflers is to reduce the sound, so taking them off will be loud.

example this:

does it sound good.. no.

He is talking about removing the center muffler, not the two rear mufflers. In that, he is correct. If you leave the two rear mufflers intact, it will not get much louder- just a little. As he said, if you swap the rear for magnaflows, and the sound will change bigtime.
His post said UNLESS you swap out the rears (or delete them, for that matter), it will not get much louder.

Question Re: centre muffler removal

Sorry to keep this one going, but I am trying to reach a conclusion regarding the original question.

If you delete only the center muffler (keeping the stock 2 rear resonators) and add 2 straight pipes from the split to the 2 rear resonators, what will be the effect?

Will there be an unacceptable drone from inside the vehicle?

My center muffler is shot so I have to replace it.

A replacement exhaust system is not in this years budget, LOL!

I have a used center muffler in good condition, but don't know whether to leave the center muffler out or replace it.

Can anyone please provide some concrete guidance?

Thanks in advance!

It makes zero difference i found, do whatever is financially more feasible, i replaced my exhaust with a magnaflow catback and and am installing a 034motorsport high flow cat this winter. my stock exhaust was so rotten and cracked it broke right after the muffler shop replaced the centre muffler with pipe in a totally different area. Whatever route you choose have the shop inspect the exhaust carefully.

Thumbs up Re: centre muffler removal

Thanks for the advice, Seanf!

I think that this time around I am going to install the used muffler and hopefully it will last until I have the coins for a magnaflow catback!
