In case you are still reading this. I had the problem as well...

My oil pressure light only came on after a good 60km of highway driving... I guess it needed time to thin out or something. I didn't get it fixed right away, and the warnings kept coming, but only at that interval. When I was driving in town, it wouldn't ever show itself. When it happened a couple more times, I took it to my audi mechanic. It was sludge, but it didn't come as I would've expected.

Bottom line I think is that you are gettin sludge, no matter what. You will need a clean-up at some point. Do you want to do it now that you're getting possible early warning signs, or wait a bit and take the small risk of frying your engine? You could do either way...

Good luck!

please explain how i am "very wrong" and idiots like me??? i bought the car less than a year ago ive been doing full synthtic changes every 4-5k. not going over 5k because i know what these engines are known for i did my research before i bought the car. so the idiot is the previous owner. bought it from the dealer but shows that the previous owner was a girl because of holes in the floormatt from heels and window switch peeling from her nails. i understand it was her problem for this sludge.
so THANKS for your INPUT

Google Auto RX. it's a good sludge cleaner . And it's cheaper then a dealership clean out.

I had the oil pressure buzzer and light come on after a recent oil change. Intermittent but once the car warmed up it came more frequently. Had the sludge cleaned up and the oil pump replaced ($2,400 of work). Now the car is smoother but the low oil light comes on after 50 minutes of highway driving. Really strange as the level is fine. Independant guy thinks it might be the display.

Sounds exactly like my problem.

See my earlier comment at #20 above.

2 cents worth.

Check the oil pressure sender connection and make sure it is not loose.

If that doesn't fix it, change the oil pressure sender unit (inexpensive) and make sure it is tightened to the block.
