Default 1.8t borla catback

hey there. i just bought a borla catback system (part#14884) for my 2001 1.8t a4 tiptronic, and i was hoping that someone could tell me what the easiest way to remove the old down pipe is. im guessing its through the engine bay. Also the new system did not come with the spring tensioner on the down pipe, which to me would say its not needed. any feed back on either issue is appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

ur right, easiest way is having a hoist up so you can go underneath the car.
