Borla Mufflers on 2004 S4 (no resonator)
WOW!!!! Love it.
My car began as a bone stock S4. Wanted to do a little more with the exhaust, so we started by cutting out the resonator which didn't do much but screw up the valves in the chambered exhaust........meaning when you step on the gas the car sounded like a bmx with a baseball card flicking the spokes....GROSS!
I had ordered some mufflers from Borla part #40363, it took some time for them to be built, but got them and had them installed on the stock sized exhaust tubing (2 inches).
Just got the car back from the garage and the car has a noticeably lower sound at start up and throughout the rev range. Just slightly more noticeable within the cabin, not intrusive at all and there is NO DRONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am going to see if i can get a clip of the exhaust. Not sure how to get one with the car moving. I will see if i can get one at startup (cold), blipping throttle and revving the engine in neutral a little.
Now that i've heard this, i am very disappointed Audi didn't focus on really showing off the wonderful sound of this engine.
I just have to find some nice looking muffler tips and it'll be completely finished.

Re: Borla Mufflers on 2004 S4 (no resonator)
Haven't done this before. I'm going to try to include the idling/rev audio clip. When i listened to the initial clip from my camera, the speakers from the laptop didn't do it justice. I had to connect the separate speakers with small subwoofer to hear the low note from the exhaust and even then the sound is AWESOME. I had my wife drive the vehicle by me and give it gas and it was even more spectacular from outside.
Regardless, here is the audio clip, hope it works. I am still going to get one of the vehicle moving from outside. Today it was far too windy to hear properly.

This is the last post (audio) of the Audi i sold a few weeks back. I previously posted the at idle revving, and this one is of the car from a standstill at almost full throttle. The sound is best listened to by a decent set of speakers as you get more of the effect.
Regardless, i miss the S4 and i miss the sound of the exhaust.
Here's the last link i said i would post...
