Does anyone else get a compressor type noise when opening the front door to their Audi?

 

like heater motor noise?

 

I am not sure what it is. It sounds like either the heating and cooling system or like something is being primed before I turn on the engine.

 

Um yeah that noise when you give contact to the car, is your adjustable headlights that turn on also there is a pump that preps the system for start up It is very good to turn the key and let it sit for 5 seconds before starting

 

happens with all cars - my wifes' jetta does it when you unlock with the key fob, my WRX does it when i half-turn the key

methinks it's the fuel pump.

 

is the fuel pump pre-priming?

 

it was the fuel pump in the MkIV VW, I assume this is the same
