Precisely what I was concerned about...it seemed off that the horn wouldn't sound. Now that I know it's not a mis function I feel a little better.

i have the same problem with the beeping...drives me nuts when i lock and it starts going off. I read online that the battery might be dying and being that the electronics are so sensitive in these cars it is not getting a constant voltage thinking that someone cut the power on the car...
Yes, drives me a little nuts too. At least we're not alone.

yeah I get a high pitch beep too. Im sure if someone came busting through the window the horn alarm would sound... atleast I hope it would. That small beep doesnt even scare cats away... WEAK!

from what i know from my other alarm sytems. if you rock it or give a firm hit on the back window. should set it off if it has a shock sensor. if not get in and arm it and try to get out with it armed. I;m going to try it when i get mine back form geting winthers put on.

Go to a store that sells Boat alarm horns, or trucker horns I personally like the boat... you can basically retro fit an aftermarket horn with the one in the back which honestly really sucks. I know that with a vag-com you can connect your horn to go off as well in the programing but I havent looked at it. I remember there was a setting in there though

Re: A4 Doesn't Honk and beeps when car doesn't arm
I have the same problem. It began after a battery was changed in a key fob. The dealer reprogrammed the system and both keys. No improvement. Said the "siren" must be changed. They called the beeping thing in the back of the car a siren. It seems there are rechargeable batteries in the siren assembly that die and are not replaceable. Very expensive. Does anyone know if the siren can be disconnected without triggering the anti theft system?
