I just went through the process and found discount tire to be a better deal than tire Rack (DT has free shipping). I then asked about a recommended installer in the area of the boirder where I was gonna have them shipped to. After discussing it with both recommended installers, I was able to determine that the installer could provide both the tire and installation at the same cost and avoid dealing with 2 different ... I wouldnt suggest driving across without paying taxes as the border agents aren't stupid and the cost of getting caught would be far greater than the savings. Just get a reduced bill and pay the tax (no duty on USA made tires).

Firstly, Id suggest you decide on which size you want and use Tire Rack to assist in determining which tire is better for you. Secondly, the NAFTA agreement provides for no duties on anything originating from Canada, USA and Mexico. Lastly, you realize that our dollar is worth more than US $'s right ?

I usually ship stuff to Point Roberts WA, and I haven't seen any auto shops there, mind you I don't drive down very far. I'm going to say I'll have to pay duty either way since I'll need to keep my winters anyways.

Which tire would be best for me? The General or Kumho?


Thanks, I checked out Discount tire and it's cheaper to get the Generals Exclaim UHP on DT than on TR. But I found that on TR it says the Generals Exclaim's are Ultra high Performance Summer's and on DT it says that they're all seasons? Which of these are correct?

I'm not a fan of "no season" tires but have heard good things about the Exclaim UHP's ...

I've driven on Exclaim UHP (on my old BMW 325) and there's nothing wrong with them. They perform their duty well. You do get what you pay for (they're not very expensive) but at the same time, I've had more expensive tires that didn't perform as well. So, pricing aside, they're slightly above average. Considering pricing, they're above average.

As for the Kumho's, can't really help you there as the only Ecstas I've driven on were race tires. They were absolutely fantastic but after a week of city driving on them, wouldn't have been street legal anymore (i.e. barely any tread with a very low treadwear rating).

So in the end, you probably can't go wrong with either and I'm guessing you'll be satisfied with the UHP (seeing as they're a couple bucks cheaper).

There are two sites, Discount Tire and Discount TireS which one did you go through and would you suggest to me? The discount tires, seems to have cheaper prices but I'm not sure if there are any hidden fees or if it's a reputable site. Which one did you use?

Hi guys I have a 2010 s4.they came with runflat tires and have worn down.I tried to get Michelin for the car from Costco which were reasonably priced until the guy realized I have run flat .I am back to square one.looking for runflat tires is very expensive.Is there a way I can get a cheaper price somewhere or do regular tires with running the risk of getting stranded if the tire blows off.
Please advise
