Local tire place has a sale and I'm thinking of picking up either a set of Nokian Hakka Rs or 7s.

No question Winnipeg has a harsh winter environment but I do almost all city driving in the winter. The manager said even though the 7s are the best on snow and ice because of the studs, he recommends the Rs for me. So, I'm leaning that way but keep reading so many positive European reviews on the 7s.

Any first hand experience with either?

 

My Hakka Rs work great. The best winter tires I've had. Studded tires are a little excessive in my opinion. Sure they work great on ice but the noise and damage on dry pavement aren't worth it to me.
