Hi all,

History on the issue I'm having:
I am a recent owner of an '06 A3 FSI. I bought this car off a Nissan dealer's used car lot. ~150,000km on the ODO
On the highway last week and experienced the lack of power, hesitation under WOT. I tried repeating a few more times and CEL code p9233 came on. I did some googling and sure enough it pointed me in the direction of the cam follower.

That weekend I pulled the cam follower out and this is what I saw:

This doesn't look good - Camshaft scored, HPFP shaft done, etc. I noticed some small metal filings around shoulder where follower sits.

So, put it back in and drove it to the nearest dealer (Glenmore Audi - Calgary) and stated my situation, showed them my photos and they said they would look into it and get back to me.

Initial response from Audi was that they were going to fix the camshaft, FP and follower under warranty. After pulling the camshaft out they are also saying that the head should be replaced as there is slight scoring on the head bearings race. The dealer ordered the head and all was good.

Audi Canada now (1 week later) has told me that they cannot proceed with any of these repairs without a full service history of the car. Last recorded service with Audi Canada was at 55000km, nothing since other than a couple other warranty issues (PCV, Intake Manifold flap motor) Service done at SouthGate Audi. Since I'm the 3rd owner or so, I don't have these and the dealer wont provide me with any info on the previous owner. I spend an hour or so on the phone with the service manager at Glenmore Audi and Audi Customer relations and have made no progress.

The car currently sits at the dealer half disassembled and we are at an impasse. I'm not paying the dealer anything until I've exhausted all options.

According to Carfax, was purchased new in Toronto, brought to edmonton in 09 (ish) traded in to Volvo of Edmonton in early '14, then traded to Royal Oak Nissan in Fall '14. I bought it from RO Nissan.

If anyone on here is the previous owner (specifically before Volvo had it) and has any oil change records, or service shop where these were done, it would be greatly appreciated. (PM me)

PS - I'm NOT looking for any money from anyone I just want Audi to accept responsibility for this WELL KNOWN ISSUE, and replace the parts, as per the extended warranty.

If all this comes up empty I'll probably just buy the parts and put it back together myself as I've rebuilt engines before, just would rather Audi do it.
