Looking at a 2000 S4

Re: Looking at a 2000 S4
I have just bought a 2000 S4 with Tiptronic and I love the car and the transmission. Tuners will go for the 6SP more so because I think the manual will handle 400 plus HP.
Advice - Get the service history from the dealer, the timing belt and water pump is due to be changed at 160Km - if it hasn't been done, I would be inclined to offer them no more than 9,500 - the price for a new timing belt and water pump will be $1500. Also make sure you get a spare key - those things are expensive
Good luck - once you've driven one you'll want to buy one - but avoid a lemon 'cos it will cost you
By-the-way, I paid $9,200 for mine - the warranty they offered you is probably through Global - Keep on top of those guys and your dealer
