Default I'm Looking at buying a 2004-2005 S4

I am looking at buying a S4 Avany for the wife and kid... well at least its my excuse. I know the car is a rocket but is the fuel mileage crappy or what? I have a Volvo XC90 right now and it is the worst, I compare it to a 2007 Escalade. Can someone let me know?

HP - fuel consumption ...... the two are related. If you are worried about fuel consumpton stay away from the 4.2l S4. I love my S4 and all that goes with it but it does drink.

You can't really compare an XC90 to an A4/S4 Avant. I went from a Legacy 2.5 GT Wagon to an XC90. I gave up performance but got size instead. The Avant/Q5 was way too small, smaller than the Legacy. Even the A6 Avant was not much bigger.

The XC90 burns through more gas and it gets pretty close to what the guide says (surprisingly) but extra volume is balanced by it not taking premium. I used to put 50-55/week in the Legacy, and the XC90 takes 55-60. I didn't look it up, but I can't imagine an A4 be much different than the Legacy, and the S4 certainly not.

In the end it depends on what you are looking for. Performance, size to haul the family around, or economy. I would be seriously looking at a Caddy Sportwagon if I was going back to a wagon since you can't get a Legacy GT wagon anymore.
