Airbag Light

Re: Airbag Light
Its not a major repair, but can be expensive..
To be honest, i've heard of people ignoring the light, or removing the bulb from their cluster to avoid the cost of repair.
I am not sure if this affects the function of the air bag system.. Perhaps someone else can enlighten us on that topic.

Re: Airbag Light
you should hook up a vag com and see what the problem is... if you disconnected an airbag (say like by removing a seat) and then reconnect it, the airbag light will stay on until reset. are you in Sask? if so, i have a vag com and can reset it for you.

Re: Airbag Light
i had the same problem.
it could be nothing. like jordan said - once the light goes on, it needs to be reset using a vag-com. if you reset it and it the light goes on again, then you've probably got a problem.
a vag-com scan will tell you where the problem is - it could be any of the airbags in the car. there are TSB's around for easy fixes for the connections in the steering wheel (my problem, which was fixed by my mechanic) and under the seats. otherwise, it could be the module or a steering wheel clock spring, or something else - again, depends on where the problem actually is.

Re: Airbag Light
I like the way you think, mikeh.
Mine is on now, and I just had heated seats installed. Most likely, that was the problem/cause then? Was not on last week when I went for a test drive.
