Default Q5 Side assist not effective

Anyone here find the side assist giving false signals on the 407? I am wondering if there is anything wrong with mine. There are no fault codes or anything but every time Im on the 407 the side assist would light up when there are no cars around me. I also find the side assist to be too conservative when there are two car length worth of gap when changing lanes. Anyone on the same boat with me? Thanks

Side assist working fine on my end. Sounds like you have a dud.

Mine is working fine as well... one thing to keep in mind is that the side assist takes into account the speed at which vehicles are closing in your blind spot. I have seen mine go off when a car was about 8 lengths behind me but closing quickly on the 416 here in Ottawa.

My side assist works well in traffic but I do see spurious signals occasionally. Usually the false signals occur on bridges with concrete walls or railings, like causeways in the southern states. For some reason, the driver's side seems to be more prone to this phenomenon.
