Default 2013 Q5 Winter Rim/Tires

I know there are a lot of threads regarding winter tires, but I notice from Tirerack and the dealer comments the 2013 Q5 brakes have been adjusted and some rims no longer fit that did before. Has anyone with a 2013 encountered this yet?

I am picking up my new 2013 Q5 is Saskatoon later this week and want to go with winter package upon delivery as the summer 20's are not for cold temps. I may have to ship the wheels there as Im not interested in paying $5K for the dealers stock winter package.

Honestly check out 1010tires.com I don’t work for them, but I have had awesome service there and the price is comparable to tirerack.com plus it’s a Canadian Business with free shipping. I purchased rims and tires from them and they verified the fitment prior to even charging me. They mounted and balanced tires and rims for $50 and sent me the correct bolts for the installation

Good to know. I think I will order the 19" S5 replicas. I can't believe the dealer is trying to sell a set of 20"s for $5K on sale...

It is such a waste of money to buy OEM rims from the dealer.. They arn't forged so there is absolutely no reason to spend that much on wheels. You could get a decent set of HRE's for that price..

Also look up OEMconcept. They have an office in Montreal and are great to deal with. I ordered a set of summer rims from them and was very happy with the result. They don't charge any Custom Fee's which saves you a ton of money compared to ordering out of the states.

This guy is great to deal with.

I got my replicas for winter from grand-prix import in Montreal (2 audis, 1 benz and 1 volvo). Great guys, great service and good price. They are the importers into Canada.

Here is the link: GRAND PRIX IMPORT CANADA

I bought winter tires from these guys as well (1010tires). The dealer wanted $2700 for tires with mounting and balancing. I got the tires shipped to my tire store then mounted, balanced and installed for $1100. Exact same tire as the dealer was selling me.

I ended up going with TSW wheels as they are Roti-Forged and are much stronger but at a decent price than the fully forged wheels out there. For 5K you can get some nice forged wheels and tires. Screw OEM they are cast as many others. One thing I would highly recommend is to do a search on "Tire rolling diameter calculator" And maintain a 3% difference if you are going bigger or smaller as you will have bigger problems if you exceed that. The other thing to watch out for is the curb weight of the car plus add another 1500LBS (5 passengers at 200LBS each and 500lbs for luggage etc.) Just to be safe and figure out the weight allowance of the rim. Take the weight allowance of the wheel and x it by 4 to get the total weight allowed for the wheels. Make sure the total curb weight and the allowance for passengers does not exceed the wheel weight allowance.

The weights above are just a go by I know it’s never the case that you will have this many people in the car but it’s a good safety measure.
