Default Audi Q5 Home-Link

As part of the tech package you get the Home-link system (remote garage door opener).

I understand that if you live in a Condo, the opener has a rolling code and can't be programmed with Home-link. Unfortunately I am in this situation.

Has anyone found any tricks or hacks or anything like that around this issue?

Thanks.
W.

Warcity...I thought it would handle rolling codes, but that you needed to consult your garage door opener manual for how to handle rolling codes. Not sure it that helps or not.

Thanks afretes I will have a read Thank you.

Sbiggs: I thought so too but my dealer said it's not (perhaps they're wrong). Issue is since it's the buildings garage I have no idea what brand opener it is. I'll have a look at the posting above try it and let everyone know. I hope it works.

Here is the issue, as part of the instructions I have to:

1. On the garage door opener itself, there is a learn button. Press and hold down the learn button until the learn indicator light goes out (approx. 6 seconds). (The learn button is near the antenna on your door opener.) By doing this, you have just reset the codes. At this point your remote door transmitters will most likely not work. This is o.k.

Problem is I can't do this. firstly I don't' have access to the opener, it's locked up in a see through cage, secondly If I reset it, then everyone in the condo (800+ residence) will loose their access .

Looks like I can't use the home-link which really sux .

You just need to buddy-up to your condo maintenance guy to give you access to the unit. Might cost you a 6-pack. They must add new transmitters to the garage door opener every now again when people lose theirs. It is the same process with HomeLink. Once your Q5's HomeLink transmitter is programmed with the transmitter you use for the garage door, it's just a matter of adding (learning) it to the garage door opener.

Hi Tony:

You're right on the money. I am going to have to find out who the man in charge is and what kind of beer he likes.
