With the wheels I mostly just wanted something easy to clean that looked good. A basic 5-spoke is the way to go for that. I also figured the extra tire sidewall I would get with an 18" wheel size might give me a bit more forgiving ride.

We had a bit, but it's supposed to get back up into the teens this weekend! Woohoo!

 

Just a quick update: Regina finally saw significant snow and ice about two weeks ago and the Pirelli's I bought have been performing beautifully! They have had great traction on both snow and ice without giving up much in handling or braking on dry pavement. They are a bit noisier than the summer tires, but that is to be expected with any winter tire.

 

Good timing on the snows, I've had mine on for a month, I did it same time as I do each year but snow is pretty late.
