Default Returning or Not Leased TDI

Hey everyone , I am a very happy owner of the 2014 Q5 TDI and my lease expires. I have until October, if it wasn't for this whole emissions scandal that happened I would have gladly kept it and wouldn't think twice. The torque on this car is absurd, to get such performance you need to shell out 100k on a super car and it would use premium gas.

So overall, what are the TDI owners doing with their Q5's now. Are you going to get rid of them or keep them knowing that the support for these cars won't exist in the future a.ka mechanical and catalytic converter failures etc..

Also if we decide to keep it and get the "fix" and it's dead in terms of driving experience then what ...

There are alot of what ifs..

Thanks!

Did you ever sort out a decision on this? What is the expected fix for the 3.0TDI ?

The 3.0l TDI fix was updated in this article from Reuters dated 19-Dec-2017 https://www.reuters.com/article/us-v...-idUSKBN1ED2A3

The pertinent paragraph is below...

"The new approval covers 2014-2016 Audi A6 Quattro, A7 Quattro, A8, A8L and Q5 diesel vehicles. The approved fix entails removing defeat device software that reduced emission control effectiveness and replacing certain hardware components. Previously, regulators approved a fix for 38,000 other 3.0-liter diesels."

I bought out my 3 year lease on 2014 Q5 TDI last year and have no regrets.
