Default Real Leather?

Hi Everyone. First Post, picked my Q5 up a little over a week ago. Glad to be part of the Audi gang. The car is amazing!

Now to my question:

I've applied Klasse (All-in-one) and the sealant glaze (paint is now sealed for winter). 303 Aerospaced my exterior rubber seals and interior as well as Luxol on all leather surfaces (or apparently leather).

My question is, are the seats FULL real leather? There was such significant differences between bottom cushion sides and the center of the seat it was extremely obvious due to texture and the rate that the material absorbed the luxol. I do not believe that the entire seat is leather, only the center seat surfaces. All seat sides, back, etc. are much smoother and seem like leatherette.

If nobody know, I strongly think that the seats are not pure. It is very unfortunate and caught me by surprise. I would be very dissappointed that Audi would label these seats as leather but are a combination with leatherette..I hope this isn't true.

Can anyone confirm this?

Indeed standard audi seats have always been marketed as real leather as opposed to the competition. So the "seating surface" is made of real leather behind your back and your behind lol

But no confirmation that parts of the seat are leatherette? I would just worry that the leather conditioner would affect vinyl differently over the years...

Hey Shawn
My old 05 B6 with now 45,000km. It also has leather ‘’seating surface’’ I have been using regular leather cleaning products on entire seats for years and still no issue at all, look amazing clean…etc. So I will get a Q5 next year and my advice is not to worry too much lol

1. Only opting for optional The Full Leather package adds ‘’Nappa leather/Premium Milano’’ upholstery to the upper and lower instrument panels, head restraints, and door trim, including the door pockets

2. By the way I guess you meant Lexol? Lexol (conditioner in the brown bottle, cleaner in the orange bottle) just to be safe use it on genuine leather only, why risk it on the long run? For faux leather and vinyl, use 303 as it gives you the UV protection and a matte finish or Vinylex, which is made by the same company that produces Lexol.

Back of the seat is vinyl (panel where your knees would hit if it were a tight squeeze), otherwise it is all leather. Certain parts of the seating surface could appear smoother, depends on where and how much it is stretched. I would imagine on the sides it could appear smoother, yes.

Check this out:
