Hi there, I am thinking about a Q7 to tow a trailer. I know with the towing package that the GVW increases to 6600lbs, but does the package include a transmission cooler and engine oil cooler as most trucks with towing packages include. I can't find any information on this anywhere. I live in the mountains so these additions to a tow vehicle are a must. Anyone have any ideas?

By stronger cooling is that just the motor itself?

 

I guess the tow package does not come with a plug module for the end of the wiring harness to plug the trailer in to. I have a 2007 Q7 and there is a blank plate where the plugin should be. I pulled off the 4 screws and discovered a very non standard plug. Anyone know if I can get the plug adapter for the end of the harness anywhere besides the dealer?

The plug-in is about $80 at the dealer, my wife went in and asked the sales rep why they sold her the trailer hitch package and no receptor plug. He didn't have an answer so told the service dept to install one free of charge.

Kind of BS to not include this with the trailer package, Audi has some room for improvement in the up scale vehicle market.

It comes with:

Hitch Pin
Hitch Ball
7-Pin connector with spring loaded flap (likely the same aforementioned part for $80)

It's really a heavy duty piece of metal and I agree that it's stupid to make people buy it after selling them a $1000 trailer package.

I just ordered a 2011 Q7 with the towing package. I heard that you can not hook the braking assist with the 7 pin plug without it costing a bunch of money. Can anyone confirm this as it's on order and due here aprill 18. We bought to tow our trailer.

I had the Audi dealer install the brake controller for around $400.00 I figured that would be best since they know the right model of controller for the Q7. Never heard about any issues with non-dealer installed controllers.

 

Thanks for the info it would seem its not that expensive to get done at a hitch place rather than Audi.

Any know if Extended Warranty is worth it and what it costs. they threw in the Audi Care for the first 4 years.
