Default Q5, Winter Tires and Rims

Will (hopefully) be receiving my 2012 Q5 2.O PP in the next two weeks. I have inquired about winter tires and my dealer recommends (via a cheap photocopied sheet) Michelin Latitude Alpin HP for $2500. I have looked at Michelin Xi2 and Nokians at local dealers and they come in significantly cheaper, but nobody seems to have the specs for the 2012 rims. Are the size/specs for the 2012 rims the same as for the 2011 models?
Any comments, recommendations?
TIA
Stan

I'm getting my Q5 in February - was also looking at OEM tires from my Toronto Queensway Dealer (queenswayaudi.com/winterprep).

I assume the first package is similar to your Audi offer?

AUSNOW18 Audi Q5 (2009+) 8R0-071-497-A-8Z8 (Shown) Recommended Tire Size: 235/65 R17 104H $2,500.00
AUSNOW18A Audi Q5 (2009+) 8R0-601-025-C (Not Shown) Recommended Tire Size: 235/60R18 107H $2,999.00

Out of curiosity - what's the ballpark of comparable from non-OEM dealer you're looking at?

Cheers
Nils

$1700 including all taxes. No pressure monitors though.

Don't need pressure monitors for the Q5. They are built in.

Curious about that? If you are getting new rims for the winter tires, what are they built into?
Forgive my ignorance.

Yes, the new wheels will also need the pressure senders.

Thanks, just what I thought.
Anybody driving without pressure sensors in their winter tires?
Any harm besides the light being on all the time?
TIA

You don't need pressure sensors. The pressure is determined through a sophisticated mechanism build into the hub and abs sensor, taking rotation as a measure.

I purchased Audi replica wheels that look exactly as my 20" s-sline rims, except that they are 18". I also purchased the new Toyo tire gs5i or something like that...

Replica rims are from Macpek:

The one major downside to those rims will be keeping them clean in the winter.

Total, including rims and tires, and including taxes, was about 2000$.

Oops! I stand corrected. Nothing in the wheel. New Audi's and VW's just use the ABS sensors which work fine as long as only one wheel changes pressure at a time and that should be the case most of the time. I haven't set mine up yet.
