Q5 vs Subaru Outback.

Re: Q5 vs Subaru Outback.
you sound like the salesman who sneered at me for considering... They are comparable... 2 cars that hold 5 with space... one more luxurious, one more rugged. As fancy and German as Audi is, the Subarus tend to be more reliable and economic to drive and fix...
I am interested in finding out what paradiso did and if he was happy and why. Please don't tell me you can't compare them. I am comparing them... Paradiso did... and I am sure many others. Just because you see it throught the narrow lens of luxury and prestige, don't limit the discussion.

Re: Q5 vs Subaru Outback.
It is not just a response to your writing: "hard to justify a gap of 10,000 dollars plus increased finance charge of 1.9 vs 3.5% plus other higher expenses down the line..."
Although much more expensive Audi cars have a great sales around the world, while Subaru has bad results.
What do you think what is the reason?????
If you do not differentiate classes of cars here's another candidate: Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Ford Escape, Toyota Rav4, Honda CRV, Mitsubishi Outlander, Chevrolet Equinox, Jeep Liberty, Nissan Murano and Others

Re: Q5 vs Subaru Outback.
Blah blah. I am guessing that, like paradiso, others are making this choice. Your arguments are irrelevant. I like both and am interested in someone else's experience.
Btw, Subaru sold 154,000 cars in the US ytd for July, Audi 65,000. So you don't have any idea what you are talking about.

Re: Q5 vs Subaru Outback.
The guy is asking for some help, if you do not have anything to contribute other than BS arguments, keep them to yourselves! Period! I agree the comparison is not apples to apples, but it’s what the guy likes so help him out and put up, if you can’t than just shut up.
Sorry to be so blunt but there is way too much of irrelevant posts on here that are not helping anyone at all, except to aggravate them some more. So please keep all the BS to yourself!

Re: Q5 vs Subaru Outback.
Well said. Thanks. Believe me, whenever someone asks a question like this, there are others out there with similar questions. Sometimes one is looking to buy within one class...say, luxury suv.. then you are comparing the XC60 to the RDX to the Lexus, to the BMW.. but believe it or not, some are trying to decide whether to spend the money to get the luxury vs keep it and not. since both cars have similar functions, it is nice to see how they compare on the non-luxury points. The fact that this is "german made" doesn't automatically mean it is mechanically better. The Japanese cars are often more reliable ....even the less expensive. I'd put a honda up against a mercedes anytime... in fact I have. Honda is much more reliable and often better made.
so thank you. 1move. Hopefully paradiso will see my post.

+1! Anyone can compare anything to anything. Nothing is the 'same' as anything else – that's the freakin' point of comparing them!

U.S. market is not the whole world
In Europe, Subaru sold annually 35-40.000, Audi sold 1 million cars

Re: Q5 vs Subaru Outback.
A large part of my reply is subjective, since everyone has a different "seat of the pants" experience when they get behind the wheel. I've purchased Japanese vehicles new since 1982. First two were Toyotas and since 1994, I have owned 4 Nissans. My last vehicle was a 2005 fully optioned (including nav) Murano SE. While it was a great vehicle, it was not problem free. Up until I purchsed my 2011 Q5 3.2 Premium (Sline, nav, B&O), it had been the best overall vehicle that I had owned. Everytime I get behind the wheel of the Q, I have a grin from ear to ear, even after one year of ownership. I have had zero issues, the vehicle is as tight as ever, even over rough roads with the 20" wheels. The driving dynamics of the Q far surpass Japanese vehicles, including the Murano with the sport suspension. When I bought the Q, I did not expect it to be as reliable as a Japanese vehicle. I bought it because of the absolutely wonderful driving experience that I have with it. It is a blast on twisty roads and incredibly stable on icy and treacherous roads (I'm in Canada and run 4 dedicated snow tires in the winter months). Needless to say that all of my future vehicles will be German since IMHO they provide the ultimate driving experience. One last item, is the number of little thoughtful things that are part of the vehicle design.
