Q5 damaged =( Where to get parts?
Hi,
New guy here, just wondering what is the best place to get parts for the Q5?
I need front driver side fender and bumper. Rubbed against a pillar in the underground parking
Dealership quoted almost 2k to fix it... it was for a new fender and to refinish the bumper. Would it be cheaper to buy the parts myself and have them install it?
I don't want to go to independent garages since the car is still under warranty and in case something goes wrong down the road, the dealer will have a reason to say warranty doesn't cover it anymore because the car got fixed somewhere else before?
What's my best course of action?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks a lot!
PS. What does it cost to upgrade to the S-line package after purchase? We don't have S-line on our Q5 and thought that if we have to get this fixed, might as well upgrade it lol. It might even make the repair + upgrade cheaper? I don't know...

Re: Q5 damaged =( Where to get parts?
Hi,
2k isn't too bad considering a new OEM fender and bumper respray. I had my IS250 bumper resprayed, and it was 1k from a local body shop.
You may want to be careful in terms of buying your own parts and have the dealership install it. First, they may charge you more for labour because they are not making any money off the parts. Second, they may outright refuse because they may argue that since they didn't source the parts they do not want to deal with the liabilities if the part your provide gets damaged or something.
As for S-line parts, I have seen posts referencing Eurorprice. Having said that I haven't heard of anyone buying from them, but they have pricing so it will give you a good idea what they are worth. In one word: pricey.

Re: Q5 damaged =( Where to get parts?
Hi, new member here.
I found this forum through researching about the topic. I have a similar situation as the thread starter, our Q5 is scratched and we need to have it fixed.
I want to take it to an independent shop but my parents insist on getting it done at the dealers because they are worried about it voiding the warranty. But the dealer is charging way too much, well so I think... So I need to somehow convince them otherwise, or maybe get some convincing myself haha.
1- What I'd like to know is: will taking it to an independent shop for exterior repair void warranty? Can Audi/dealerships even tell it was fixed somewhere else?
2- Question for realitybytes: I saw in another thread about you getting your car fixed at a repair shop, not the dealers. May I ask if this happened while your car is still covered under warranty? And did the dealers give you any trouble about it afterwards (if they even know about it)?
Thanks in advance, and pardon me for stealing the thread
I'm new to cars and fairly new to driving lol so please bear with my noob questions.

Re: Q5 damaged =( Where to get parts?
Sorry for the late reply. Started a new job...
To answer your question, my 2011 is definitely under warranty. I have not had to take it to the dealer for anything, but my take is that as long as you get it done as a reputable shop the dealer can't void the warranty. If the shop does a good job, the dealership shouldn't be able to tell that you had work done to it.
Just my two cents, but if I take mine in and they say my warranty is void then I will be on the line with Audi Canada Corporate. Have you ever talked with them? They are really nice!
Happy New Year!

Thanks for the reply realitybytes!
I haven't been checking the forum over the holidays either lol. That's reassuring, now to see if I can convince my parents otherwise, depending on the price...
I haven't had to call Audi Canada Corporate and hope I don't have to, to be honest haha. But that is also good to know.
Thanks again and Happy New Year to you too.

Re: Q5 damaged =( Where to get parts?
I took my Q5 in for its 25k service yesterday, and I have to say I was disappointed with my experience. I will share my experience on another thread. I did have a warranty related issue (squeaky part somewhere in the back when going over bumps), but they resolved it.
