Q5 - Brake Noise

Q5 - Brake Noise
Just went in for the 25K service & noticed the brakes are making a squeaky noise. The dealership said there's nothing wrong with the brakes. Could be from the semi-metallic pads and may go away eventually. There weren't any noise prior, so I'm wondering where its coming from. Anyone experienced the same thing?

Did they disassemble or replace the pads ?
I am very new to Audi and not sure Audi use the anti-noise shim between pad and caliper. If audi does and they disassemble or replace the pads, the mechanic might forget to put the shim back. Just my guess.

Re: Q5 - Brake Noise
they didin't disassemble or replaced the pads, told me that brake service is not included in the audi care package. brake service cost ~$500 (exclude pads) & there's no guarantee that the squeaking will go away......

Re: Q5 - Brake Noise
It's normal. It's the composition of the brakes, it's not just on the Q5. Only way to resolve this is to buy ceramic pads. I bought them from Hawks for 150 dollars, changed it on my S4 no more squeaking.
Going to the dealer will not help this situation.

Yes, its a squeaking noise. My friends S4 has the same issue. Apparently, these brake noise only occur in cold weather.
BTW, at 44K, have you had your pads replaced? Just wondering how long the brake pads normaly last.
