The etching doesn't really help it get found at all, it's supposed to deter theft for the purpose of selling it or chopping it up and selling it as parts. It's like a visual VIN for want of a simple explanation. We used to have our lot boy do the etching for inventory at our dealership, we had so many vehicles stolen with the etching, and the vehicles were never found. It is a dealership profit maker, yes it may make a thief think twice before breaking into your vehicle, but it they want your vehicle, they'll get it.

I argued with them to drop Globali no luck. I told him I paid theft insurance, if my car is stolen frankly I don't want it to be found LOL.

LOL I thought about that too. I wonder what the dealer profit is on that? $50? $75?

Probably around there, if not more. I can understand if it used the GPS to find your car but that's not the case.

My dealership wanted $200 for window etching!! I had them take it out.

Back to the original post, I found that freight and PDI for the Q5 was definitely high compared to other similarly priced vehicles. Admin was $250.

Yes Q5 is higher than the GLK for sure as I almost bought the GLK (glad I didn't).

I've had two cases of stolen Q7s. Globali paid $4k to each of my customers towards the purchase of their next Audi.

Or just have the insurance company buy the replacement... and save the etching fee...just a thought.

Regardless of the fees, I would never pay for window etching...never have, never will.
