Arrow New Q5. Need owners opinions

Hello Owners,

I just bought my new Q5 and I had some questions about extra parts. I want to get some winter floor mats and a cargo mat for the back. Is the Dealer the cheapest place to buy Audi accessories, or is there another website around that does it cheaper?

Should I install splash guards on the Q5? I see that Regina_TTS's Q5 doesn't have them. They are quite pricey from the dealer. Is 3M rock guard a better, cheaper option?

Is a factory hitch the best solution? Has anyone installed a hitch on their Q5, either OEM or not?

Has anyone Installed factory running boards, and if so, what was the cost?

Any help is appreciated!

nealalex, unrelated, but how was your service from your local dealer? I'm in Alberta and looking to buy soon.

Thanks.

My Salesman was very good. He was a real nice, pleasant guy and immediately gave me a no bullsh$t price. I was able to drive the Q5 without a salesman sitting in it. A good experience that way. My only beef was an $800 dollar fee for wheel locks and mud flaps. It bothered me that this was even an issue on a $64,000 dollar vehicle.

I'm not sure where to find the parts you are looking for, but I would suggest doing some homework on-line. The dealership prices are outragous. I purchsed an 18 inch tire package on my own for about $1,900 all in when the dealership was quoting me close to $3,000 for a 17 inch package.

Hey,
we have a local Calgary Audi Club and get discounts on a lot of things, also we can find you a deal for the 3M stuff. As for the matts there are a lot of different options and oversized weather mats that work really well, the dealer on these things is way too expensive. If you search the forum a little bit you will defenetly find a lot of places that sell it cheaper.

If you are interested in joining the Calgary Audi club let me know and I will PM you with my contact info.

Is the mud flap/wheel lock being done at most dealers? These are the little things that burn the whole experience.

I'd stay away form splash guards, lots of cars are moving away form that. They don't look good on the car that's probably why Audi didn't put it on. I wanted to get a trailer hitch on mine in Sep when I picked it up but Audi folks hadn't received their training on how to install it. Only go with dealer because the hitch has ESP sensors and it's connects to the ESP computer so the car can adjust handling based on what you're pulling. After markets can damage this feature. If you do do it, please post some pics.

You can also pick up a set of Audi Q5 wheel locks online for under $100 (including taxes and shipping costs). I wouldn't overpay for them with the the local dealerships.

Don't get the splash, useless and makes the car looks ugly. Here is what I did. I bought these really awesome metal Audi badges from ebay for about 30 dollars (for pair). I went to Canadian tire bought these awesome Michillen winter mats and put the badges on it. Whole thing cost me under 80 dollars. MUCH cheaper than Audi. I went to audi for something and everyone came around admiring it. Don't waste your money at the dealer.
