Default Need help! Order issues with the S Line

I am hoping someone may have an answer or some contact info for who I can call at Audi Canada to get to the bottom of my issue.

I ordered a 2010 S Line in Lava Grey with all the options including the deletion of the SLine Auminum and sub in the Premium Wood Trim for $1000 extra.

I got a call today from the dealer stating they they have been told by Audi that they cannot and will not substitute the aluminum finish with the wood grain.

I happen to prefer wood grain and as I am having the car custom built, I am at a loss as to why they cannot accomodate this request as the wood inserts (Available on any premium model) will fit where the aluminum ones go.

I know Audi has allowed this substitution in the USA on the Q7 for a select few and heck they even built a whole body out of silver for a customer in the middle east.

This seems to be a sticking issue with them. And frankly it is a sticking issue for me as well as I will cancel the order over this issue. I have a car right now with the silver interior and it is the #2 reason I am trading up. Personal preference this is a major issue for me.

Any suggestions as to how I get around this or who I would call at Audi. Bottom line is I will cancel the order if it comes down to silver or nothing. I know Audi probably couldn't care less as I am a small fish in a big sea, but it will cost them several repeat buys in the future from me.

Thanks for any help/ insights.

The S Line package in any Audi model, in any country has always been pretty near to impossible to change or make substitutions with. I'm surprised that your dealer wasn't aware of this from the beginning.

You might be better off keeping the aluminum and the $1000 and swap interiors with someone. Your interior is more unique should be more sought after than the wood interiors.

I'd hate to hear that you gave up on an amazing vehicle over the wood versus aluminum interior. Heck, if I had wood, I would pay for the swap and take your aluminum.

Thanks Tony,

I was not aware they were so strict on the swapping. I have a meeting with the dealer today to see what can be done. Will post results. The thought of canceling the order is disappoining, but I have spent 7 years with an interior on a previous car that I did not and do not like at all and not a week goes by I do not regret my previous decision.

I will discuss the option of swapping interiors with someone else's car to see if that will do it for Audi. Fingers crossed.

Spent 2 hours at the dealer today... What a time... Almost changed the order to an S4 as it was essentially a lateral move cost wise, talked out of it by the salesman as he is also a personal friend and very much against the S4 for the reasons I was considering a new vehicle (New Baby and all that goes along with that). I have wanted a sporty car for about 7 years. Now that we have our little girl I keep reminding myself or in this case need some help being reminded that an SUV or CUV is very useful and still very sexy. Although the S4 looks oh so good, the Q5 seems much more useful for long trips with the kids and pets.

So... The jist of the above. The swap of the Aluminum to wood would cost $3,000 plus labor. That's more than I am willing to even consider so the aluminum stays for now. The dealer has agreed to keep the "radar" open if any other customer is itching for aluminum and wants to swap with me for the wood grain. Thanks Tony for that recommendation!!!! The Dealer was more than willing to assist on that front.

So.... the order stays as does the aluminum and I will recieve a refund of the wood premium charge I already paid as that is a no-go.

So after all this, I got to thinking about accessories for the Q... Does anyone know if the running boards look good on the Q and if they get "in the way" of pant legs, etc... when you get in and out of the vehicle?
