Has anyone noticed the remote led flashing WHILE driving?

I have seen it a few times now, for no apparent reason the remote flashes 5-6 times (i am guessing)and then stops.

I have a month old 2011 Q5 3.2L with convenience key. The key being on my lap while this occurs (hanging off belt loop).

I find this puzzling.
Any ideas?

I have my key in my pocket all the time, so haven't noticed......
I'll give it a try and see.
My guess is: it periodically talks to central unit to verify they are on the same page.
How is that for an explanation!

 

The manual mentioned something about flashing lights on the fob (manual not here with me, or else I'd have looked it up)

 

Manual says the light flashes in certain scenarios, but only tells you about the dead battery one...and I know it's not that, or the display in the car would tell me the same thing...
Perhaps they are just 'TALKING' to each other...

 

Mine does this too on my old and new car, normal.

It just surprised me driving at night and seeing my crotch flashing!

 

That's a conversation starter: "Sorry Officer, I didn't see the stop sign 'cuz I was staring at my flashing crotch..."
