Default Expect to receive my new q5 tomorrow

Hi,

After the very long wait, finally I think I am going to get my new q5 tomorrow, very excited. But unfortunately I have to consider winter tires and rims right away, sort of sucks! Hence the question: will you buy the the winter tires and rims from the audi dealer, and why not? Thank you in advance for helping. I am new here.

Congrats on your new car!!!

We expect plenty of pictures. As for the winter tires, I personally went the tireack.com route.

I got a decent set of winter rims and the same tires the dealer was recommending for about 1850 shipped to my door including any applicable taxes and the conversion from USD.

I believe the dealer was asking for approximately 2400, so i was happy.

I recommend you find the best tires you can afford for your new ride, and match them with rims you like the look of.

Good luck!

Thanks Rocco. I wanted something that looked a lot like the sline wheel--the hartmann 204 wheels were 285$ each.

Hey congrats. I'm in Montreal and my car is also arriving in a couple of days. It is an S-line so i'll be changing the rims/tires for winter but wanted to drive on the 20" stock rims for as long as i can get away with before the snow hits us. Also it will give me a chance to finally figure out if i want 19" or 18" for the winter (depending on how i find the ride on the 20's). So i would say enjoy the stock rims for a bit! And start shopping around for winter rims on tirerack.com or oemwheelsplus.com (great replica wheels there) What's the hurry?

Hey there, I see you have a Lava Grey S-line also (picking mine up next week). Was curious to know which wheels (and size) you ended up with from tirerack, i narrowed my choice down to 4 of them.

Cheers

Noticed you are also from Ottawa. Even though my Q5 will not arrive until Feb/Mar 2011 I have still been looking around at winter tire packages. If you purchase from Tire Rack you can have them shipped to the Corporate Center (Corporate Center) in Ogdensburg which is a 1 hr & 10 min. drive down the 416. They will store your tires for up to two weeks at a cost of $6 US per tire. Because you are shipping within the states it is cheaper plus by picking them up you will have no brokerage charges. When buying from the U.S. the tariff (duty) rate on tires is 7% while the tariff rate on rims is 6% if the tires and rims are not made in North America. You will also have to pay a provincial tire fee of U.S.$ 23.36 along with HST (note: HST is not paid on ground shipping). My guess is you will save almost $200 by picking them up yourself plus you get to have a nice little outing. Hope this helps.

Thanks every one for your reply!

I didn't receive my Q5 until last week, but now I have it and loving it!

I have noticed: the sensitivity of gas paddling seems to be low when the car first started, comparing to our A6 and Subaru. It seems it requires a bit gas to get the car pick up the initial speed. Does anyone else notice the same/similar thing?

Thanks!

That is odd. My Q5 2.0T is very responsive. I would take it in to have it checked out. They may have to re-program the ECU.
