Default Centre armrest question

Question to all Q5 owners....

Does the centre armrest on your Q5 do a freefall drop like a rock from open to closed, or does it have some tension so it doesn't slam down with full force?

The reason I ask is because my Q5 armrest came from the factory with tension, which I thought was perfect because it didn't slam down, however it had a bit of a squeak to it (especially when really cold)

So at my first service this week, I asked the dealer to look into the squeak, which they fixed. But now when it is open, I have to ease it all the way down with my hand or else it will simply drop like a free-falling rock and slam down, no cushion or tension or anything.

Can anyone tell me how is it supposed to be?

Thanks,

Anders

There should be some resistance when closing the arm rest/centre console storage compartment.

Just checked mine and in fact there is some resistance. It won't slam down. I would take case back to dealer, if it bothers you.

I'm assuming your centre armrest has intermediate height adjustment positions, as well as normal and forward sliding out positions. Nothing with the armrest is so loose that it will slam.

3 Audi's I've ever had from factory the squeak was there. But as above indicated there should always be a tension however I find my S4 has a lot more tension than my Q5 did.

Is this (center armrest dropping hard / with no tension) something that can be addressed by owner w/o having to go to dealer?

Thank you !
